We finally made it to the Zoo. It was a little bit of a rough morning. However, Jayden Took a nice little nap on the way, and once we got there he was refreshed and excited to start his day at the zoo having fun and learning. At this moment he was more interested in the toys in his stoller than the zoo. But hey, we had just walked through the doors.
We were at the Albino Crocodile exhibit. The look on his face is priceless. He seems VERY afraid of this crocodile. Don't worry folks, the Crock is behind double thick glass.
This was the Lioness Lyla. She just turned 1 today. She was a blast to play with and watch. She played with her ball, and her stick. Jayden was sitting there babbling at the lion, just like he does to Grandma and Grandpa's kitty's at home. lol.
Okay, I DO not know why! I do not understand this what so ever. But EVERY time we saw a turtle exhibit, either the small babies ones, medium ones or the HUGE big ones, he laughed at them. For some reason he found turtles funny. lol.
We are in front of the Cockatoo's, which was a relief for Jayden, because we had just finished seeing the Macaw's and they scared him.
He absolutely was MESMERIZED by the bouncing by this tiger. I have no idea why, because all it did was sit there on the cliff thing in its habitat.
They now have this walk through habitat for Kangaroo's and you can feed and pet them. This little Roo was VERY playful. Was having a blast feeding him, petting him, and playing with him. Jayden got to touch him, and feel him. He looked at me, like what the heck mama, this is fun! He loved it. This little roo followed us half way around the walk through. lol.
Mama and Uncle Justin were hungry. So we stopped for lunch. Figures, Jayden would get hungry too, so we all ate. Jayden enjoyed his Green beans, while Uncle Justin and mama enjoyed our 7 dollar kid meals that consisted of a hot dog, cookie, small soda, and a bag of chips. lol.
We took the little choo choo train. He wasn't so sure about it at first when the train started up. And I'm sure the sun shinning on us didn't help. Ultimately he wanted to be out of the jumper and on mama's lap.
So, he got his way. Mama took him out of the jumper/carrier, and he got to stand in mama's lap. lol.
At first he was scared of how the train rolled, so he hugged mama VERY tightly. He ended up liking it.
We went to the kiddie petting zoo, which was free. We got to feed them. This llama was licking Jayden. I think it thought that Jayden was food or something. lol.
And then the goats, and deer came up and decided to eat my shirt and my straps. lol. Meanwhile Jayden was absolutely engulfed in the the llama eating out of my hand.
We tried to feed the baby goats since the other adult goats had already attacked us. A deer snuck in, and it sort of made Jayden chuckle.
He was getting excited with all of these animals around us. We were popular because we had food in our hands.
I was trying to explain to Jayden that this was a baby goat, just like he was my baby. I'm not sure this conversation sunk in. lol.
He decided he wanted to pet the goat after this, but he was faster than the camera could be.
It had been a LONG exhausting morning. So Jayden took a short nap to re energize while mama and uncle Justin checked out the new Aquarium. It is Really actually good. Well worth the money to check this all out.
For some reason, the Giraffe licking mama's hand, made him laugh so much. He really enjoyed the giraffe and watching it's tongue move and stick out waiting for someone to give it food. lol.
Waiting for Uncle Justin to finish feeding his Giraffe.
The tiger that is hiding was making noises, and Jayden started to laugh. But he couldn't find out where it was coming from. As you can see the tiger behind us in the habitat was taking a nap. lol. I tried turning around to get a picture but he looked down, that little turkey. lol.
And when uncle Justin got his attention back, a Peacock walked by and grabbed his attention. He was VERY amused by this male blue peacock.
It was very fun and interesting to watch Jayden light up, laugh, giggle, and have fun at the zoo today. It went WAY better than I had imagined. I was one of THOSE moms. Every animal we saw I told Jayden what it was, and made the sounds it made. I know, he may be a little young, it's not the whole identification of subjects I'm aiming for, at least not yet. I'm just trying to introduce as much talk and language into his every day world as much as possible. =) So I'm trying to be creative. He's seen many of these animals in his animal and farm animal books at home when I read him his bed time book. I figured it be fun to see the real ones at the zoo.
So the Zoo was a success. It went better than I thought and imagined it would go with Jayden. He seemed very interested in the animals, and very engaged in what was going on.
I think we are going to make it a point to visit the zoo at least every 3 months, if not every other month. It was a bit expensive, however I found a buy one get one free coupon online, and I saved it and printed it out. It has no expiration date on it, so I'm gonna use it as much as possible until they tell me we can't use it any more. =)
I want to take him to the Phoenix Zoo also, since they are a tad bit bigger and have a tad bit more animals. I just figured I'd start small and see how it goes at a zoo closer to home before venturing to the big park. I talked to Scott and if the next 3 zoo visits go as good as today did, then we will buy a family yearly pass for 75 bucks, so we can visit the zoo as many times as we'd like and get the discounts! SO, hopefully the next three zoo visits go well!
Anyways, We got home, ate his afternoon snack, and Jayden did not want to nap. You would have thought with all the fun and stimulation combined with the sun and little bit of heat that he would be tired. Nope. Not tired. He wanted to nurse, so I nursed him. Then he wanted to play. So, I let him play in his car walker.
He played in it until daddy got home. So I gave him to daddy for daddy duty while I ordered and picked up Papa John's pizza. Which is funny, because his poops all day today have been very mild. They haven't been bad at all. But when Scott took him for daddy duty, he pooped in daddy's lap and gave daddy one heck of a diaper to change. I was three rooms over and heard it. I even smelt it. MAN oh MAN was it something gross. Man, those Green beans hit him fast. lol. He just started the green beans this morning.
So I feed him his dinner, he ate wheat cereal with his green beans tonight and of course had his mama's milk. As he was eating Mama, Dadda, and his three uncles chowed down on some Papa Johns. YUM YUM YUM!
We let Jayden Play in his Car walker and watch the first unofficial race of NASCAR. I call it unofficial, because it bares no grounding in the stats of NASCAR, but it's fun to watch. It's like a Showcase in track, or a scrimmage in football. Check this picture out. lol.
Watching NASCAR with Grandpa in his Car Walker. lol. He was REALLY into it. Why not? The day he was born Grandpa was flipping back and forth between a football game and NASCAR. lol.
Anyways, he started getting a wee bit fussy. So WE gave him his bath. I let him nurse and rocked him a wee bit. And he went out fast. We haven't heard a PEEP from him in over an hour now. He was really REALLY tired today.
We are trying something new tonight. We did some thinking and calculating. Jayden's sleep issues started when he started his reflux medicine. I did a little research, and found some things indicating that a side affect is sleep issues. A lot of other mothers reported that their normally sleep through the night babies, became more needy and whinny at night time sleeping. Others reported that their children just plained refused to go to sleep unless they absolutely wore themselves out and it only lasted an hour or two. There were various other issues with sleeping for babies who normally slept through the night. SO, we are trying something new. We decided that we are going to go 3-4 days without giving Jayden either one of his reflux meds. (don't worry, I talked to his Pedi pretty extensively today, and she things our idea is great, the sooner we can eliminate the reflux meds, the better it will be for all of us.) Then we are gonna track and monitor his behavior, sleeping and eating patterns. Not to mention if he has any reflux issues and outbreaks. Then we are gonna do one reflux med for 3-4 days only. Again monitor and track everything. Take him of for 3-4 days, and repeat with the other reflux meds.
IF Jayden has limited or NO issues with his reflux during the time he isn't on any, we are simply gonna just stop all together. Some of the other side affects that I think we are mixing up with gas pains, growth pains, and teeth pains can be associated to his fussiness, due to one or both reflux meds. There is literally a mile long list of reactions and side affects to both meds. Our goal is no reflux medicine by 6 months anyways. That gives us a month and a half. Since he is now onto solid foods, we have noticed his reflux has not acted out, or caused issues, that however could be due our diligence in making sure he takes his meds at the appropriate time and the appropriate dose for his age and weight. So wish us luck.
Anyways, Jayden went right to sleep. Not a whimper, not a single cry. He is STILL peacefully sleeping. Haven't heard a peep from him. That gave mama and dada some much needed hubby and wifey time! Hey now, we are TTC for our baby "girl" so, married peeps will be married peeps right? lol. I know TMI. I'm suppose to be Fertile Mertle this week. We shall see if it works.
In any case that was our day. Our adventure out. It was great. It's been a good day, and so far a good night. Hope it stays that way. We've got church tomorrow, and apparently hubby is planning something big for me, because he said he's got a surprise for me tomorrow. lol. =)
Anyways, time for this mama to go snuggle with her hubby. =)~ Good NIGHT everyone! Sleep tight!!!!
